UnConventional Odyssey is a game about three (or five) Vampire LARPers whose car breaks down on the way to a convention. They then encounter a wide variety of people and not-people (such as zombies), most of whom are useless in their quest to get to the con. These latter characters are the "Horde". The game requires anywhere from five to twelve players, as well as two hours of actual play time. All characters are designed to be as gender-neutral as possible, but since romantic liasons are a big theme of the game, be sure people are comfortable with the possible "pairings" that might result.

Okay, this zip file should contain everything you need to run the game, short of what's on the shopping list and some office suppilies.

You'll need Microsoft Word 2003, or something like Open Office which can read those files, as well as a PDF reader, which you can download for free from Abobe.

The only fonts used in the Word documents are Arial and Times New Roman, which you should already have. There are colors used in some of the Word documents, but they're not vital for the game. You can print everything greyscale and the game won't be affected, and colorblind players should have no worries.

The file you're going to want to read and print first, which tells you how to run the game, is UnConventional_How_To.doc; there is some redundancy with the instructions in this file and some of what's in other files, but this is mostly for your convenience of reference and doesn't excuse you from reading UnConventional_How_To.doc ...

Below is an inventory of the files, explaining what each one is:

* A_README.txt -- This file, a Windows text file.
* UnConventional_Conclave.pdf -- A flyer that's about the Vampire game that the "main" characters are trying to get to.
* UnConventional_Contingency_Envelope.doc -- Each of the "main" characters gets a contingency envelope for when the character gets Internet access, which can happen in the second half of the game.
* UnConventional_Hour_1.doc -- The Horde characters for the first half of the game.
* UnConventional_Hour_2.doc -- The Horde characters for the second half of the game.
** UnConcentional_How_To.doc -- This file tells you how to run the game. Very important.
* UnConventional_Items.doc -- Item cards for the game, designed to be printed on standard Avery business card stock (5371) or equivalent. You could print them on normal paper and then cut them out, but that'd be kinda painful. In any case, we suggest sorting the cards by type after you've printed them out.
* UnConventional_Phone.doc -- The character packet for the "Phone Player", a special Horde character that handles nearly everyone the "main" characters talk to on the phone.
* UnConventional_Protagonists.doc -- The Car characters, aka the "main" characters for the game.
* UnConventional_Rules_Briefing.doc -- A rules brief for the game. There's enough copies for everyone, so you only have to print the file once.
* UnConventional_Vampire_Brief -- Some of the characters (the Car characters and the Phone characters) get an additional briefing about Vampire games. There's enough here for everyone, including a special briefing for the character "Pat", who knows the background for Vampire: The Trademark but not the rules.
